9.1.1 Unload Advisor

Unloading tables from the HeatWave Cluster that have not been queried recently can free up memory for other tables and allow for a better use of available resources. To help identify unused tables in the HeatWave Cluster, the HeatWave Console provides an Unload Advisor, which recommends tables to be unloaded based on the query history.

To use the Unload Advisor:

  1. Connect to the DB System for the HeatWave Cluster from which you want to unload tables. See Connecting from the Console.
  2. On the Workspace tab of the HeatWave Console, click the Data Management tab.
  3. Under the Actions menu, select Unload Advisor.
  4. In the Unload Advisor dialog that appears, choose the Time Period for which the advisor will check for tables that have not been queried. Choices include Past 7 days, Past 14 days, and Past 28 days.
  5. Click Get Unload Advisor Recommendations. A message is shown when the advisor recommendations are being fetched.
  6. Either one of the following then appears:
    • A message saying Unload Advisor operation completed with no recommendations, because there are no unqueried tables for the chosen period of time.
    • An Unload tables from HeatWave dialog box, showing the following information:
      • The DB System involved.
      • The number of Tables to unload according to the advice.
      • The Estimated unload size.
      • A table that shows the schemas and tables to be unloaded and their sizes.

Click Unload Tables to accept the advice to unload the tables. A pop-up notification appears after the unload operation is completed.
