12.8 Inbound Replication to a High Availability DB System

HeatWave on AWS supports Inbound Replication to a high availability DB System.

The inbound replication channel is connected to the primary instance of the high availability DB System. Transactions on the source DB System are replicated first to the primary instance, and then asynchronously to the secondary instances. During a Failover or an upgrade for the high availability DB System, replication pauses, and the replication channel is put into the Needs Attention state. After a secondary instance has been promoted to become the new primary, the replication channel is reconfigured automatically to connect to the new primary. The channel is then back into the Active state and replication reumes.

The following limitations apply when replicating to a high availability DB System:

  • GTID-based replication must be used.
  • PrivateLink connections to the replication source are not supported.
