Oracle gratefully acknowledges the contribution of Percona, Inc. to improve InnoDB performance by implementing configurable background threads, as discussed in Section 14.15.7, “Configuring the Number of Background InnoDB I/O Threads”. InnoDB uses background threads to service various types of I/O requests. The change provides another way to make InnoDB more scalable on high end systems.
