2.2.2 Sign-up Procedure

To sign up for MySQL HeatWave on AWS:

1. Start here if you do not have an Oracle Cloud Account. If you already have an Oracle Cloud Account, proceed to Step 2 to start the sign-up process.

   1. Navigate your browser to https://cloud.mysql.com.

   2. Click Sign Up.

      A field is displayed for entering your email address.

   3. Enter your email address and click Continue.

      You are directed to an Account Information page in the OCI Console for creating an Oracle Cloud account, which is required to use MySQL HeatWave on AWS.

   4. Enter the required information and click Verify my email.

      An email verification link sent is sent to the specified address.

   5. In the verification email, click Verify email to verify your email address and continue the account setup process.

      You are directed to an Account information page. Follow the prompts to complete your account setup. After the setup is complete, you are directed to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Console home page, which displays a Get Started with MySQL HeatWave on AWS banner.

   6. Click Go to service.

      You are directed to an Administration page in the OCI Console where there is a Set up MySQL HeatWave on AWS dialog that guides you through the setup process.

   7. Proceed to step 3.

2. Start here if you already have an Oracle Cloud account.

   1. Navigate your browser to the OCI Console at https://cloud.oracle.com.

   2. Enter your Cloud Account name and click Next.

      You are directed to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Console.

   3. Enter your user name and password and click Sign In.

   4. From the OCI Console navigation menu, select Databases.

   5. On the Databases page, under MySQL HeatWave on AWS, click Administration.

      You are directed to an Administration page in the OCI Console where there is a Set up MySQL HeatWave on AWS dialog that guides you through the setup process.

3. Request an account upgrade, if necessary.

   A paid account is required to use MySQL HeatWave on AWS. Complete the following steps to upgrade your account. If you already have a paid account, you will be advanced to the next step in the setup process.

   Note

   After upgrading to a paid account, credits from your Oracle Cloud Free Tier free trial remain eligible for use with MySQL HeatWave on AWS for the duration of the trial period.

   1. On the Set up MySQL HeatWave on AWS dialog, click Request Upgrade.

   2. Follow the prompts to request an account upgrade.

      The account upgrade request may take some time to complete. You will be notified by email when the request is approved.

   3. When the request is approved, you can get back to the sign-up procedure by selecting Databases from the OCI Console navigation menu. On the Databases page, under MySQL HeatWave on AWS, click Administration.

4. Subscribe to the US East (Ashburn) region.

   MySQL HeatWave on AWS requires a subscription to this region for identity and access management and billing. You are billed for the MySQL HeatWave on AWS Service in the US East (Ashburn) region.

   If you already have a subscription to the US East (Ashburn) region, you will be advanced to the next step in the setup process.

   If you do not already have a subscription to the region, and you have reached the maximum number of regions allowed for your Oracle Cloud account, you need to request a region limit increase.

   1. In the Set up MySQL HeatWave on AWS dialog, verify that Request Account Upgrade has a check mark on the setup dialog. If not, try reloading the page by clicking the reload icon in your browser.

   2. At the Subscribe to Region step, if you have exceeded the maximum number of regions allowed for your account, the Set up MySQL HeatWave on AWS dialog displays a warning. In this case, click Request Region Limit Increase and follow the prompts to request a region limit increase.

      The region limit increase may take some time to complete. You will be notified by email when the request is approved.

   3. If you had to request a region limit increase, when the request is approved, you can get back to the sign-up procedure by selecting Databases from the OCI Console navigation menu. On the Databases page, under MySQL HeatWave on AWS, click Administration.

   4. Click on Subscribe to US East (Ashburn).

      Read the important information about your identity data, then when you have verified that this is not an issue for you and your organization, click Subscribe to proceed with the subscription. If you do not want to proceed, click Cancel.

5. Enable the MySQL HeatWave on AWS service.

   In the Set up MySQL HeatWave on AWS dialog, click Enable to enable the MySQL HeatWave on AWS service.

After the provisioning operation is completed, a message appears on the Administration page stating that MySQL HeatWave on AWS is ready, and you are presented with the following options to get started with the service:

• Click Open MySQL HeatWave Console on the Welcome to MySQL HeatWave on AWS banner to create and manage MySQL Database Systems and HeatWave Clusters. For information about creating and managing MySQL Database Systems and HeatWave Clusters, see Chapter 3, DB Systems, and Chapter 4, HeatWave Clusters.

• Select Users and Groups to create and manage users or integrate with an identity provider. For instructions, see Chapter 14, User and Group Management.

• Select Billing to monitor usage and expenses for MySQL HeatWave on AWS in OCI. For more information, see Section 15.2, “Billing”.
